Itinerary

With two routes and 1 ticket on this hop-on-hop-off tour, you can explore all the attractions at your leisure. On this Hop-On-Hop-Off tour, you have the freedom to plan your own sightseeing itinerary. With 33 stops covering all of Madrid’s main attractions such as Royal Palace, Almudena Cathedral and Columbus Square among others, this tour provides the perfect introduction to the city.

Your ticket is valid for either 1 or 2 days depending on the option selected. Buses run from 1000h to 2100h (10:00 am to 9:00 pm) around every 10-20 minutes. Your ticket allows you unlimited use, meaning you can hop-on and hop-off as many times as you like at any of the designated spots! There is multilingual audio commentary on this tour. You also get a guide map of all the stop points and the route for further assistance. A free discount cheque for various commercial establishments is also provided though fixed establishments are not guaranteed and may vary. The stop points include:

Route 1:

Royal Theatre: Located on the Plaza de Oriente, the theatre boasts a long and rich musical history. All great European opera singers of the 19th and early 20th century have performed on the stage of this grand theatre. Reflecting the décor of 19th century Spain, it is a wonderful place to enjoy opera or ballet.
Royal Palace: It is the largest and certainly one of the most impressive palaces in Europe with more than 2000 luxuriously decorated rooms, 50 of which can be visited.

San Francisco el Grande Church: One of the largest churches in Madrid, it is noted for its outstanding collection of paintings displayed amongst its seven chapels.
Almudena Cathedral: The cathedral took more than 100 years to complete. It is worth visiting for its sheer size.
Mayor Square: It is a grand arcaded square in the centre of Madrid. Since its creation, it has been the centre of bullfights, royal coronations and executions.
Puerta del Sol: It is a centrally located square and one of the city’s most lively places.

Thyssen Museum: The museum is considered to have the finest collection of art in the world. The collection is housed in the 18th century Villahermosa Palace situated on Madrid’s Golden Art Triangle.
Reina Sofia Museum: It is the principle location in Madrid for national and international exhibitions. It houses Picasso's famous Guernica, with its preliminary sketches and drawings as well as a work by Juan Gris.
Royal Botanical Garden: Built in the late 18th century, the garden provides a lovely green respite in the middle of a bustling capital city. It boasts of flora and trees from five different continents.
Prado Museum: The museum’s permanent collection is one of the largest in the world. It has the finest collection of Spanish art including works of El Greco, Velazquez, Goya, and Murillo.
Alcala Gate: The gate was commissioned to be built in 1764 by King Carlos III. Italian architect, Sabatini constructed this large gate to replace a small 16th century baroque gate, built by King Philips III.
Salamanca Quarters: It is one of the most exclusive residential and business areas in the city with high culture, great shopping, fine dining and stately buildings.
Columbus Square: The square was laid out in the 1970s, replacing the old-tree planted square with its 19th century mansions.
Cibeles Square: It is the most beautiful of many grand squares in Madrid and is surrounded by majestic buildings.
Gran Via Street It is a showcase of early 20th century architecture and one of the city’s most important shopping areas.
Spain Square: Princesca Street, Cervantes Memorial.
Egyptian Temple of Debod: This Egyptian temple was built at the site of former army barracks near Plaza de Espana, dedicated to the gods - Amon and Isis. An exhibition inside depicts the reconstruction of the temple in Madrid.

Prado Avenue: Ritz Hotel Gardens Retiro’s Park House, San Jerónimo el Real Church, Army Museum and Royal Academy of the Language.
Cibeles Square: It is the most beautiful of many grand squares in Madrid and is surrounded by majestic buildings.
Columbus Square: The square was laid out in the 1970s, replacing the old-tree planted square with its 19th century mansions.
Sculptures Open Air Museum: It is a museum of abstract art with work presented by leading Spanish artists.
Science Museum: Its among the oldest European museums in Madrid.
Nuevos Ministerios: 112, Castellana Avenue shopping and leisure area.
Santiago Bernabeu Stadium: It is one of the world’s most famous football venues and the home of Real Madrid.
Lázaro Galdiano Museum: It houses the collection of editor and financier Jose Lázaro Galdiano. The collection comprises silverware, enamels, jewellery, ivory and furniture including a range of artworks by some of the great Spanish and European masters.

El Corte Ingles (Department Stores)
Archaeological Museum: It is a storehouse of exhibits from prehistoric to Renaissance times. The museum houses a collection of treasures that were removed from churches and monasteries.
